The Senior Scientist – Formulation Manager has a primary role of managing the North America Building Care and Personal Care product formulation portfolio.  This role will interface with portfolio management to identify product needs, implement portfolio driven product changes, and maintain the formula record in Agile. Our Senior Scientist will partner frequently with Supply Chain, RD&E, Sales and Portfolio Management teams within the organization to ensure that we are providing best in class products to our customers.

Job Description



  • Manage North America Building Care and Personal Care formulation portfolio and projects
  • Maintain expert understanding of portfolio formulations, efficacy tests, and the regulations governing their use in North America
  • Create product formulations that align with cost savings projects, raw material vendor qualifications and complete test method development according to industry best practices
  • Provide technical customer support for the Building Care and Personal Care portfolios
  • Partner with portfolio management to identify product needs, implement portfolio driven product changes, and maintain the formula record in Agile
  • Create and manage updates of portfolios formulation records in Agile
  • Manages lab area and resources necessary to conduct product testing
  • Manage experiments using product performance evaluation equipment
  • Design and validate new test procedures and report findings to key stakeholders in a timely and precise manner
  • Ensure compliance with current and future regulations and corporate policies
  • Formulate products as needed to meet new performance targets



  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field
  • 5-7 years’ experience with formulation of Personal Care and Building Care products
  • Minimum of 3 years working with DfSS principles and tools



  • Working understanding of QC methods and analytical tests used characterize portfolio products
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemistry and materials used in industrial and institutional cleaning products
  • Understanding of EPA sanitizer/disinfectant regulations, BPR, USDA sanitation product regulations, and FDA hand soap regulations
  • Solid understanding of statistical methods, use of statistical software, and able to use basic experimental design concepts
  • Technical Communication Skills - Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts, findings and recommendations to variety of audiences
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment – Should be able to multi-task with proven follow-through and adherence to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Action orientated - Should be able to follow up on feedback to ensure positive outcomes
  • Attention to detail - Should be able to complete accurate data entry and develop accurate written materials
  • Collaborative team player - Should be able to establish solid working relationships with stakeholders
  • Professional communication skills – Should be able to communicate with peers, customers and vendors both via verbal and written communication
