POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Scientist - Floor Care manages the North America Floor Care product formulation portfolio.  This role will interface with portfolio management to identify product needs, implement portfolio driven product changes, and maintain the formula record in Agile.  This role partners frequently with third party vendors as well as internal Supply Chain, RD&E, Sales and Portfolio Management in efforts to truly understand the business, our customers and how we can continue to innovate for our customers and create opportunity for cost savings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage North America Floor Care formulation portfolio and projects
  • Formulate building care/ floor care chemical products
  • Develop knowledge and expertise in formulation, methods and product systems
  • Develop and maintain contacts with relevant third-party vendor/science partners
  • Manage  lab area and resources necessary to conduct testing
  • Run experiments using performance evaluation equipment and instruct technicians on how to perform test procedures and methods in core area of expertise
  • Ensure compliance with current and future regulations and corporate policies
  • Determine project tasks related to laboratory experiments and customer trials
  • Responsible for presenting data in an easy to understand format to peers
  • Identifies modifications of test procedures within area of expertise and utilizes DfSS tools and approaches to ensure quality and reliability of data with statistical relevance
  • Design and validates new test procedures 
  • Actively participate in problem identification and process and other projects such as product formulation, cost savings projects, raw material vendor qualification, test method development and technical customer support on Floor Care related issues
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and work spaces to insure a safe productive work environment

Qualifications

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field
  • 5-7 years’ experience formulating floor finishes and floor cleaners from design to commercialization stages
  • 3+ years working with DfSS principles and tools

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must understand QC methods used to characterize portfolio products and be able to apply this knowledge accordingly
  • Working knowledge of cleaning chemistry and materials used in industrial and institutional cleaning products
  • Action orientated - Should be able to follow up on feedback to ensure positive outcomes
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment – Should be able to multi-task with proven follow-through and adherence to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Collaborative team player - Should be able to establish solid working relationships with stakeholders
  • Professional communication skills – Should be able to communicate with peers, customers and vendors both via verbal and written communication
